I had to create 2 drop-down menus because paypal doesn't allow more than 10 drop-down choices per button. — monte allums note: all kits with parts include the instructions which are sent as an e-mail attachment after purchase. So if you buy one of the kits that come with parts you do not have to purchase the instructions separately.
About six months ago, i performed the h2o plus mod from monte allums on my blues driver and found that it made the pedal much more useable. I agree with voxandtele that you might want to look into some of the mods available.
** the blues driver's great cleanup factor (from the guitar volume knob) is not affected and neither is the pedal's ability to provide a clean boost with a flat eq at low gain settings.
Aug 14, 2008 the drive channel no longer had the crack and fuzz, it was smooth, but still at the 12'oclock setting, at my treble pickups, there is a very sweet spot for srv blues.
Monte makes three (!) kits just for the boss bd-2 blues driver so i jumped at the a monte allums kit directly from cmatmods who will then do the installation.
The closest thing i have heard to an eternity is a monte allums modded ts-9. Not to say they are the same, but the only thing that has come close is the monte allums ts-9. The eternity was still a little smoother, had more gain on tap, and the treble boost tone control and could also do a better clean boost.
All are new and include all parts supplied by monte as well as instructions.
Mar 18, 2012 a while back i had purchased the instructions for modding a blues driver from the monte allums site.
I am sending my boss blues driver to the same fellow who modded the dd-3. Soldering iron monte allums kits are well thought out and include nice instructions.
I like this diy mod the best - replace the caps on both the volume and tone controls to047u.
Inside the updated bd-2 is a far smaller pcb indicating that the manufacture of the blues driver has gone to fully-smd based fabrication. There are modifications of the bd-2 that can change the tonal character of the pedal. Most specifically, we have bought a monte allums modification (linked below) for the bd-2.
As i mentioned in another thread, i had seen that monte allums had recently introduced another modification kit for the boss blues driver bd-2, which he calls the blues stack plus. You can read about it on his website here and check out the video demo link there.
For example, monte allums custom guitar products makes the boss dual stack chip adapter mod kit, which replaces the stock single inline pin (sip) op amp in boss, ibanez and other pedals with two double inline pin (dip) chip sockets.
There's also monte allums: monte allums mods - individual pedal mods (there's two mods for the bd-2). I've used his for the ts9dx and mt-2 and they were easy and great.
Solder_station wrote:ignoring c34 and c35, its a more transparent overdrive, and way more natural note fade than both the usual keeley bd-2* and the various monte allums bd-2 mods.
Boss bd-2 blues driver with monte allums bd-h20 mod plus mod this is an excellent sounding made in taiwan boss pedal it is in brand new condition auction includes box and manual the stock bd-2 produces a very 'squashed' sound which is too tight and too compressed.
The boss bd-2 blues driver guitar effects pedal delivers that creamy yet crunchy sound you've heard countless great blues guitar players call up - and at a great value! the bd-2 blues driver simulates the sound of a vintage tube amplifier, giving you instant access to timeless tones.
Modded mine with the sd-1 gt minus the symmetrical gain and with dual burr brown op amps.
